Phase 3 of the Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) for Shale Gas Development in the Central Karoo translated the peer- and stakeholder reviewed Scientific Assessment into an operational Decision-Making Framework (DMF). This final phase of the SEA provides the framework for how site and activity specific assessment processes should be undertaken and provide Government with the necessary tools it needs to enable responsible decision-making into the future. Phase 3 was concluded in early June 2017, and marks the closure of the SEA project.
